You can also use stain-proof epoxy grouts for a better result and less maintenance, but epoxy is very, very expensive compared to regular grouts.

If the manufacturer tells you to to mix the grout with water only, do not use an additive. Most grouts nowadays are "modified," meaning that polymers have been included at the factory. A very few grouts, however, still require the use of liquid additive.
